300 Series Stainless Steel | Cumberland Diversified Metals
300 Series Austenitic – Alloys
The 300 grades of stainless steel that CDM typically deals in are 301, 304, 309, 310, 316, 317, and 321. These are chromium-nickel alloys and its strength comes through the process of cold working. The 300 series stainless steel is non-magnetic, not heat treatable and has good formability. By adding molybdenum, the corrosion resistance is increased.
301 Applications:
Kitchen equipment
Auto trim
Molding
Roof drainage systems
304/304L Applications:
Appliances
Processing equipment
Tubing
309/310 Applications: (high heat resistance)
Furnace parts
Conveyor parts
Oven linings
High heat resistant
316/316L Applications:
Heat exchangers
Heavy machining components
Building facades
Boat Rails
Paper production equipment
317 Applications:
Processing equipment
Hardware
Gas desulfurizing equipment
321 Applications:
